EDUWEAR - Engineering Educational Competence Development on Customisable Wearable Rehabilitation Devices
Shaping the Future of Rehabilitation through Education
Shaping the Future of Rehabilitation through Education
EDUWEAR’s objective is to create an interdisciplinary EU e-learning course, complemented with hands-on exercises, integrating engineering and health sciences. It aims to equip learners with skills to design customisable wearable devices for rehabilitation, which necessitates the integration of a range of competencies.
Our collaborative network of experts and innovators

The main work packages of EDUWEAR.

Month 1 - Month 4
Generating and validating Data Collection Instruments for focus group and survey.
A Data Collection Instrument for the focus group and survey validated through pilot studies.

Month 5 - Month 9
Data collection from educators and students to identify gap, via focus group and survey.
Quantitative results obtained from the focus group and the findings from the survey conducted among students and practicising engineers, collectively aimed to identify the competences gap.

Month 9 - Month 12
Analysis of data collected.
Two reports disclosing the quantitative results obtained from the focus group and the findings from the survey conducted among students and practicising engineers. A report on the competences gap identified, based on focus group and survey outcomes.

Month 11- Month 12
Design of hands-on exercises to familiarise
students with existing devices for the summer course in Fablab.
A set of hands-on exercises for the summer course in the FabLab to identify the extent of digital and technological competencies.

Month 10
Summer course in a Fablab environment.
FabLab course: Competency assessment, hands-on rehab tasks, design proposals, and efficacy evaluation for continuous improvement. Report outlines course requirements, establishing a foundational curriculum framework to address competency gaps.

Month 13 - Month 20
Design and develop the content of the e-learning course.
Lectures for each EDUWEAR course topic which will be published on the e-learning platform. Each lecture will contain theoretical foundations complemented by practical examples, where relevant.

Month 5 - Month 24
Generating assessment content (in the form of an on-line quiz) for each topic.
An on-line quiz for each topic of the EDUWEAR e-learning course composed of a mix of questions (e.g. multiplier choice, matching answers etc.). A report disclosing the final quiz for each learning module.

Month 16 - Month 19
Generating a
handbook for students and trainers.
Two different handbooks, one for the students, to guide the operations during the in-person activities, and the second for the trainers, containing information about the critical learning issues of the specific activities.

Month 20 - Month 25
Definition and setup of the e-learning platform.
An e-learning platform will be defined and setup to hold the lectures and quizzes. The course content will be uploaded to an e-learning environment and published.

Month 19
Trainers' Focus Group and Stakeholders' On-line Dissemination Event.
A survey with students and educators who will attend the event will provide the first insights on the quality of the course. This feedback will be complemented from the feedback obtained from the focus group to evaluate the course handbooks.

Month 25 - Month 30
Collecting and analysing data from the quiz.
Report on student scores from course quizzes, providing insights into understanding of the principles taught from the e-learning material.

Month 20 - Month 22
Design and validation of survey and metrics to be used in measuring the quality of the hands-on exercises.
Protocol to measure the quality of the hands-on exercises, survey instrument to collect qualitative and quantitative data on the course material.

Month 18 - Month 22
Design the hands-on exercises for the summer course to be held in a clinic rehab centre.
Communication and Dissemination Structure: Establishing a framework for effective information sharing on course material and perceived benefits.

Month 30 - Month 33
Generation of reports on data collected.
Report on the quality of students' solutions in hands-on tasks exercises, highlighting strengths and weaknesses. Report on the survey conducted with students on learning outcomes and competence gap addressing.

Month 23
Summer Course on Applying EDUWEAR Course Principles in a Clinical Setting.
Hands-on tasks executed by course participants in a typical rehabilitation clinic setting. Assessment by experts on the impact of EDUWEAR course in addressing the identified competences gap in bespoke wearables.

Month 1- Month 3
Communication and dissemination plan and activities.
Protocol to measure the quality of the hands-on exercises, survey instrument to collect qualitative and quantitative data on the course material.

Month 2 - Month 24
Stakeholder engagement and clustering.
Stakeholder Analysis Document: Comprehensive understanding of relevant stakeholders for informed collaboration and multidisciplinary approaches

Month 1 - Month 36
Creating a project web-site, social media accounts, coordinating the design and printing of flyers and other promotional material.
A continuously updated website, social media accounts, flyers and other promotional material to disclose project progress, outcomes and activities.

Month 13- Month 36
Compiling scientific and professional publications to disseminate project progress and results.
Protocol to measure the quality of the hands-on exercises, survey instrument to collect qualitative and quantitative data on the course material.

Month 16 - Month 36
Monitoring and evaluating dissemination activities executed in the project.
A Key Performance Indicator Registry on Dissemination Activities

Month 35
Dissemination event and the evaluation of the course in a class environment.
Dissemination event to showcase the two summer courses' outcomes and lessons learnt. Results on the on-line training course from a class-based environment evaluation. (In)-tangible results on the course exploitation by academia, industry.
